Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System seeks a Chemical Dependency Counselor to provide a range of assessments, education and therapy for patients with substance use disorders. The role supports an interdisciplinary team and requires LCDC licensure or master’s level licensure with related experience.

The Pavilion unit offers a collaborative environment with opportunities for professional development and involvement in treatment planning, discharge planning and program evaluation.

Qualifications

• LCDC licensure preferred, or Master’s level licensure in Social Work, Counseling, or related mental health field with 2 years of substance use disorder assessment and treatment experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Substance Abuse assessments to determine presence and severity of addictive behaviors.
• Provide insight-oriented education and therapy to individuals, families and groups.
• Develop individualized Relapse Prevention Plans with patients and families.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians or therapists and other departments.
• Document therapeutic and assessment activities accurately and timely.
• Communicate with patients, families, caregivers and healthcare team to optimize care.
• Educate peers and community groups on Substance Use Disorders and treatment methods.
• Maintain licensure and competencies in chemical dependency.
