Job summary

Gate Gourmet in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an Assistant Cook to support the Head Cook in preparing and cooking a variety of items according to recipes. This role requires strict food-safety adherence and strong teamwork.

The ideal candidate has a culinary degree or certification preferred, about 2 years of related experience, and experience with recipe conversions and temperature logs. Strong communication and leadership skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Culinary degree and/or cook certification is preferred.
• 2 years in the related field.
• Recipe conversion experience is required to accommodate daily production needs.
• Experience with maintaining temperature logs for all food items prepared.

Responsibilities

• Prepares fish, beef, pork, poultry and other food products for the cook.
• Observes and enforces strict food safety requirements.
• Follow directions and work as a team member.
• Provides leadership, coaching, training and mentoring to subordinates.
• Communicates production progress or concerns to managers.
• Monitors compliance and safety rule adherence at work stations.
• Maintains flow of equipment and food at work stations.
• Assists supervisor or manager in running the shift.
