Job summary

National HealthCare Corporation (NHC) in Nashville seeks a full-time Cook/Chef to prepare meals for residents in a supportive, team-driven kitchen. The role offers a stable daytime to evening schedule, competitive benefits, and no late nights.

You will follow standardized recipes, assist with menu reviews, and help ensure food quality, safety, and presentation. Prior health-care food service is preferred but not required, with opportunity for growth and advancement.

Qualifications

• Healthcare food service experience preferred, not required.
• Banquet/catering experience is preferred, not required.
• Supervisor experience is preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies to prevent waste and ensure quality.
• Review menus, therapeutic menus, recipes, and production sheets; prepare meals accordingly.
• Follow standardized recipes and special diet orders; prepare quantities to meet service needs.
• Test and taste foods for appearance, flavor, aroma, and temperature; adjust as needed.
• Provide supervision when needed.

• Follows standardized recipes and special diet orders, preparing sufficient quantities to meet all service requirements.


• Responsible for testing and tasting foods of all consistencies for proper appearance, flavor, aroma, and temperature and adjust if needed.
