Services for the Underserved is seeking a Cook to assist in managing and monitoring the development of a nutritious daily menu and meal preparation for 200 homeless residents. The role focuses on preparing low-fat, low-sodium, vegetarian and soft meals to meet dietary needs and medically prescribed requirements.
You will assist with food and equipment ordering, inventory, and logs, ensuring safe handling and storage of all items in line with NY DOH regulations.
SCOPE OF ROLE:. TheCookwill assist in the management and monitoring of all aspects of the development of a nutritious daily menu and meal preparation. In thispositionyou will prepare low-fat, salt-free, vegetarian and soft meal options to meet special dietary and medically prescribed needs of residents. The Cook will assist in managing and performing food and equipment ordering and inventory. The ideal candidate should have experience in the safe and sanitary handling and storage of all food items in accordance with New York State and New York City Department of Health regulations. He/she will be responsible for the general supervision of kitchen area, including overall cleanliness, maintenance of equipment, utensils, and supplies, and the ability to provide instruction to inexperienced trainees. Evening and Weekend Hours may be required.. .
