Job summary

Harlingen Medical Center is seeking a Chef for the Dietary department. The role supports patient meals, cafeteria food service, and catered events within a hospital setting.

The position requires strong leadership, culinary expertise, and knowledge of safety and sanitation practices. The ideal candidate has several years of healthcare food service experience, with preference for supervisory background and familiarity with therapeutic diets.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years in healthcare food service with cooking experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Establishes and oversees production practices to provide quality food service for patients, cafeteria visitors, physician dining and catered events.Provides staff education and development in the areas of culinary skills, food handling and sanitation practices.Supervises production employees as well as food service workers to ensure full compliance with federal, state and other regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years in healthcare food service with commercial, institutional cooking experience with two (2) years supervisory experience preferred.
• Food Safety Certification from an accredited organization and maintain current required.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets desired.
