Fresh Thyme Market in River Forest, IL is seeking a Cheesemonger to educate customers about cheese, assist with selections, and maintain an attractive, well-stocked Cheese Shoppe.

Qualifications

• Customer service excellence and ability to build rapport with shoppers.
• 2+ years of retail experience, preferably in cheese or specialty foods.
• Knowledge of cheese varieties, pairing and handling is a plus.
• Strong merchandising and product recommendation skills.

Responsibilities

• Extensive knowledge of natural cheeses and proper handling during cutting and wrapping.
• Provide information on product attributes, uses and serving suggestions.
• Receive and inspect shipments, monitor product freshness and temperature.
• Operate equipment such as scales, wrappers and hand trucks.
• Ensure cleanliness of work and display areas, and accurate signage.
• Adhere to Health Department standards for food handling.
• Manage department schedule, training and coaching.
