Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Durango, CO, is hiring a Deli/Bakery team member to create an outstanding customer experience, assist the department manager, and maintain a safe, clean environment that invites customers back.

You will respond to questions, offer samples, inform customers of Cheese Shop specials, and ensure accurate portioning and labeling while maintaining inventory and food-safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

• High school education or equivalent.
• Comparable Retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Gain and maintain knowledge of department products and respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of Cheese Shop specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe, using variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store's layout and locate products for customers.
• Stay current with ads and maintain inventory awareness.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures.
• Reinforce safety programs and report safety risks to management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
• Notify management of accidents and safety issues.
• Report all safety risks or illegal activity to store management.
• Ability to work cooperatively in high paced environments and manage conflicts.
• Provide support interacting with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
