Job summary

Kroger seeks a Cheese Department Associate to create an outstanding customer experience and maintain a safe, clean environment that keeps customers returning. You will assist management in achieving sales and profit goals for the Cheese department and ensure quality assurance standards are met.

Responsibilities include answering questions, offering samples, stocking and labeling products, training teammates, and ensuring proper temperatures and safety guidelines are followed.

Qualifications

• Current food handlers permit once employed
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math
• High school diploma or equivalent (desired)
• Retail experience (desirable)
• Second language: speaking, reading and/or writing (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products in the Cheese department and store wide.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions, offering informed suggestions.
• Offer samples to help customers discover new items and products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of cheese specials and rotate stock.
• Train and coach associates to perform their duties effectively.
• Provide fresh products and proper portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; check quality and dates.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures and logs.
