Job summary

MEI Industrial Solutions is seeking a skilled Rigger for our Chattanooga, TN operations. This role involves setting up, assembling, and disassembling rigging, selecting proper gear based on load and area of movement, and ensuring safe transportation of machinery.

The candidate will inspect rigging materials, align equipment, and communicate clearly with team members during hoisting and movement. A strong emphasis on safety and proper tool handling is required.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Able to read blueprints, schematics, or technical manuals.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment (hand, power, pneumatic).
• Correctly estimate weight-bearing ability of tools and equipment.
• Familiar with hand/flag signals for safety and communication.
• Valid driver's license; CDL endorsements may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect and test rigging materials to ensure safety and reliability.
• Align, level, and anchor machinery or equipment.
• Use hand/power tools to attach loads to rigging for securing or moving.
• Select appropriate gear (cables, pulleys, vices, winches) per load specs.
• Signal or verbally communicate with workers during hoisting and moving loads.
• Move or support materials using rigging lines and hoists.
• Control movement of heavy equipment through confined spaces with lifting gear.
• Attach pulleys/blocks to overhead structures using bolts/clamps.
• Dismantle, inspect, clean and store rigging equipment after use.
