Job summary

Caterpillar's Building Construction Products division in Sanford, NC, is seeking a Design Engineer to contribute to the CUL Chassis team, supporting NPI and CPI activities, and designing chassis components balancing packaging, manufacturability, serviceability, durability, cost, and system needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• Experience with NPI and CPI and cross‑functional teams.
• Strong CAD/CAE design and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to CUL Chassis system designs by applying engineering judgment to component design and production‑support activities.
• Support NPI and CPI design, validation planning, engineering release, issue resolution, and production readiness work.
• Design chassis components and hydraulic line routing solutions that balance packaging, installation feasibility, serviceability, manufacturability, cost, tolerances, and adjacent system needs.
• Coordinate analysis, corrective actions, and implementation plans with cross‑functional partners to resolve design, quality, supplier, production, warranty, and field issues.
• Participate in hands‑on machine fit‑ups, prototype builds, design reviews, and production readiness while incorporating operator, customer, dealer, and field feedback.
• Create and release engineering documentation including models, drawings, specifications, test plans, and engineering change records with manufacturing, suppliers, purchasing, quality, service, and product teams.
