Job summary

University Health Partners of Hawai'i is seeking a School Nurse RN to provide professional nursing services across assigned Hawaii schools as part of the HK Program. You will partner with school leadership to promote health, well-being, and academic success for students, with oversight of Charter School Health Technicians.

The role is hybrid: 1 day from home and 4 days on-site, with a target start date of July 20, 2026. Strong collaboration and compliance with HIPAA/FERPA are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing and an active Hawaii RN license.
  • Current BLS for healthcare providers certification.
  • Two years of experience in pediatric nursing, primary care, public health, or acute care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing services and health guidance within schools and programs.
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and staff to promote student health and well-being.
  • Supervise Charter School Health Technicians and coordinate with HK Program and APRN.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and participate in committees supporting school nursing practice.

Job description

School nursing practice requires the combination of professional clinical nursing practice with a specialized element that promotes health, well-being, academic achievement, and success of the school-age child. The schoolnurseisresponsible for workingclosely with school administrators, teachers, classroom assistants, office personnel, and providing health guidancein addition tocarrying out a wide range of school health activities. TheCharter School RNis primarily responsible for providing professional developmentandsupervision toCharter School Health Technicians (from the Hawaii Keiki (HK) Program) with the support of the Charter School APRN. TheCharter School RNwill also participate in committees and stakeholder groups supporting nursing practice in the school setting.

Meeting of the employee’s professional responsibility will be in line with the duties described below and in coordination with the Employee’s supervisor. While the Employee is not required to report to schools on days when campuses are closed, it is expected that the Employee will meet their professional responsibilities to the schools and program which may include attendance at scheduled meetings during non-student days. The Employee is expected to be physically present at each supervising school weekly and will have one administrative day each week to perform administrative and supervisory duties where they will be available to attend meetings and be available to staff via phone and email.

This Hybrid position works 1 day from home and 4 days at school sites. The RN will be at each assigned school a minimum of one day per week.

Locations:Specifically assigned schools to be determined based on organization need in conjunction with locality of applicants

Full-Time Mon-Fri 7:30am - 4:00pm, 10 Month Employee

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing
  • Possession of a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in the State of Hawai'i.
  • BLS for healthcare provider certification
  • 2 years of experience in pediatric nursing, primary care, public health, or acute care.
  • Knowledge of state medical information release procedures and laws.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA rules, regulations, and compliance.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations for bloodborne pathogens.
