Job summary

SER Metro-Detroit is seeking a finance professional to support the Finance Department in Detroit. The role analyzes accounting transactions, prepares monthly financial statements, assists with budget development, and supports audits.

It reports to the Director of Finance and requires independence, precision, and thoroughness. The ideal candidate has a BA in accounting or a related field, 4 years of general or government accounting experience, knowledge of GAAP, and proficiency in QuickBooks and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required.
• Four years of accounting or related experience preferred.
• Experience with K-12 charter/public school fund accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record bank transactions and reconcile accounts monthly in QuickBooks.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and board reports.
• Assist with annual budgets and budget amendments.
• Support year-end audits and prepare audit schedules.
• Perform month-end closings and reconcile liabilities.
