SER Metro-Detroit is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Professional to support accounting transactions, monthly statements, and budgeting for a charter school system. The role requires accuracy, independence, and collaboration with school staff and management.

Responsibilities include month-end close, budget monitoring, and assisting with audits, with a focus on GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting. Flexibility for occasional evenings/weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field required.
• Four years of experience in general accounting, audit, fiscal management, charter school accounting, and/or government accounting, preferably non-profit.
• Experience with K-12 charter/public school fund accounting preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP and related accounting procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with accounting software; MIP/QuickBooks preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; work independently.
• Willing to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends when required.

Responsabilités

• Record and reconcile bank transactions; maintain accounting records in QuickBooks.
• Perform month-end close; prepare financial statements and board reports.
• Assist with budget development and periodic amendments for the charter school.
• Support internal and year-end audit processes.
• Prepare schedules and assist auditors as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
