Job summary

Texas Education Agency in Texas seeks an Associate Counsel for Authorizing to provide legal counsel and guidance on charter school matters, audits, and related procedures. You will monitor agency actions, assist in investigations, and draft rules and language across TEC sections.

Travel up to 10% and flexible work location within Texas are available; requires JD from an accredited law school, Texas license, and at least four years of relevant regulatory experience.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Texas.
• At least four (4) years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support to the Authorizing Division and other agency divisions on charter schools and related matters.
• Support charter applications, amendments, and renewals before the State Board of Education and/or the Commissioner.
• Handle charter-related litigation before administrative law judges (SOAH) and manage related hearings.
