Job description

THIS IS NOT A HELP DESK OR IT TECH SUPPORT POSITION.

Minit Charger LLC, a leader in industrial electric vehicle (EV) fast‑charging solutions, typically lists this role as a Tech Support Specialist – EV Charging Systems. This position is deeply technical, focusing on the intersection of high‑power hardware, IoT connectivity, and fleet management software.

Role Overview

The Tech Support Engineer serves as the primary technical link between Minit Charger's advanced charging hardware (like the ALTUS II and MAGNUS lines) and the customers using them in demanding environments like airports and logistics hubs. You will troubleshoot everything from physical power delivery issues to cloud connectivity within the AssetPro 360 platform.

Required Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years in technical support, field service, or systems troubleshooting. Experience in EV charging, IoT, or power electronics is highly preferred.
  • Embedded systems, CAN protocol and peripherals such as analog/digital systems, sensors and display devices.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of AC/DC power, high/low voltage systems, controls and the ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Strong grasp of networked hardware (TCP/IP, DHCP, firewalls, and cellular connectivity).
  • Must Have Skills: A "customer-first" mindset with the ability to remain calm while helping a client whose operations are stalled by a product failure.
  • Education: AAS or BS in Electronics Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities
  • Real‑Time Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues for EV chargers: electronic controls, power modules, peripheral components such as circuit breakers, fans, wiring harnesses (loose connections, broken or damaged wires, etc.)
  • Backend management platforms, and networking equipment (Wi‑Fi, Ethernet, 4G/5G).
  • Field Support: Off‑site and onsite diagnostics, repair, verification and configuration.
  • Commissioning & Training – Conduct commissioning, operation and maintenance training of new installations. Expectation is customers must be able to support themselves after training.
  • Incident Management: Monitor site performance proactively to identify anomalies before they lead to downtime.
  • Technical Documentation: Maintain detailed case records and contribute to the internal knowledge base and field support manuals.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D and Engineering teams to elevate complex bugs and provide feedback on product improvements.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of EVSE standards (e.g., OCPP, ISO 15118).
  • Knowledge of battery charging protocols (CAN Bus), lead‑acid battery charging basics and BMS.
  • Electrical certifications or previous experience with renewable energy/smart grid technology.
Travel

Occasional travel (≈ 20%) to customer sites for commissioning, training and complex troubleshooting when required.
