Job summary

Texas Health Resources in Fort Worth is seeking a Charge RN for Surgical Trauma PCU/Critical Care & Burn Unit on the night shift. This full-time role requires 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays; on-call may be required to respond to census fluctuations.

The unit is magnet status with a Level I Trauma Center, emphasizing teamwork, education, and career growth. The RN will lead clinical staff, ensure high-quality care, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary health care team.

Qualifications

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • Current RN licensure recognized by Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required.
  • TNCC or ATCN – within 12 months of hire preferred.
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire.
  • 1-year experience as RN in acute care setting required.
  • 2-year experience as RN in acute care setting preferred.
  • PCU experience preferred.
  • Burn unit experience a plus.

  • Support and actively participate in shared governance/councils.
  • Committed to developing their individual knowledge and skills, as well as advancing the profession of nursing and engaging in lifelong learning/development.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Directly assist leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, by offering staff guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed.

Job description

Charge RN – Surgical Trauma PCU/Critical Care & Burn Unit – Full-time, Nights

Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1304 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

Work hours: Full-time, Night shift. Positions require 12‑hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Team members may be placed on call for regularly scheduled shifts in response to census fluctuations.

Department Highlights
  • Justin 5 is a 35‑bed Surgical Trauma Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Burn Unit. The unit will open on August 10 with 18 surgical trauma PCU beds and 9 burn beds, with plans to expand to the full 35 beds later in the year. This unit provides higher‑acuity surgical trauma and burn care, including treatment in a dedicated hydrotherapy procedure room for the burn population. Although patient populations differ, this is one integrated unit, and staff are expected to work across both care areas.

Here’s What You Need
  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
  • TNCC or ATCN – within 12 months of hire preferred

  • 2‑year experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting preferred
  • PCU experience preferred
