Job summary

Texas Health Resources Fort Worth is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical PCU on a 7P to 7A shift. This full-time position offers a 36-hour weekly schedule in a 28-bed PCU with a 3:1 patient-to-nurse ratio.

The role involves assessing and planning patient care, implementing interventions, and ensuring safety measures. Candidates should have an RN license, a nursing degree, and BCLS/ACLS/CPI credentials, with PCU experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree required or equivalent.
  • RN licensure required by Texas Board of Nursing.
  • BCLS certification before providing independent patient care; quarterly re-check.
  • ACLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • CPI training within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum 1 year RN experience or completion of RN residency.
  • PCU experience preferred; Tele and Med/Surg considered.

Responsibilities

Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical PCU – Full-time, 7P

Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1304 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104
Work hours: Full-time, 36 hours weekly, 3-12 hours shifts, 7:00 pm – 7:00 am

Department Highlights
  • 28-bed Medical PCU department
  • Intermediate level of care to a wide variety of medical patients at a 3:1 patient to nurse ratio.
  • This patient population requiring specialized monitoring and interventions, includes patient diagnosis such as: diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), respiratory compromised patients that require specialized equipment including continuous respiratory interventions, home ventilation systems, and tracheostomy care, multi-system organ failure, respiratory distress, sepsis, hematology, GI Bleeds, Renal/Liver Failure, Acid-Base and Electrolyte Imbalances, and cardiac abnormalities.
  • Medication management includes continuous and titratable IV medications to support the intermediate care population.

Here’s What You Need
  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • PCU experience preferred – will consider Tele and Med/Surg experience
