Job summary

Northwest Health - Porter Hospital in Valparaiso, IN is hiring an RN Charge for the Progressive Care Unit. This full-time night shift (7pm–7am) offers 36 hours per week, a 30-bed unit with a 5:1 patient–to–nurse ratio, and a pathway for ICU/trauma interest.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience required.
• RN license in the state or compact state.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and supports nursing and support staff, delegating tasks.
• Evaluates staff performance with feedback and coaching.
• Oversees assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
• Coordinates patient care with healthcare teams and resolves flow issues.
• Ensures effective communication among physicians, patients and departments.
• Manages bed assignments and optimizes unit resources.
• Leads infection control initiatives and safety compliance.
