Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced RN for a Full-time Night shift on the Oncology unit at UAB St. Vincent's East. The role emphasizes staffing coordination, leadership, and delivering high-quality patient care in a 22-bed unit focused on cancer care.

Responsibilities include directing staff, assessing daily care needs, and ensuring appropriate assignments while addressing care outcomes. Licensure and continuous education are required or anticipated based on unit placement.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN with Alabama Board of Nursing.
• BLS Provider certification within 1 month of hire.
• ACLS/PALS may be required within 6 months of hire for certain units.

Responsibilities

• Assign, direct, educate and monitor nursing and support staff during the shift.
• Assess daily patient care needs and develop patient care assignments.
• Evaluate effectiveness of patient care and address issues impacting outcomes.
• Respond to complaints about patient care through established channels.
• May contribute to hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
