CommonSpirit Health's Chandler Regional Medical Center seeks a Medical Surgical Ortho Charge RN to oversee a department of frontline nurses in acute care orthopedics.

You will mentor staff, coordinate patient flow, ensure standard of care, and advocate for your team’s growth while aligning with the hospital’s safety and quality goals.

This role demands accountability, confident communication, and the ability to handle difficult conversations to support both patients and nursing colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Two years RN experience in applicable clinical specialty and/or charge nurse experience.
  • Arizona RN license is required.
  • BLS certification is required; ACLS certification within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Mentors others in competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, patient safety goals, and inservice education.
  • Evaluates care provided by staff and coaches to improve quality of care.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed.
  • Coordinates ethics process and Ethics Consults as appropriate.
  • Coordinates patient flow on the unit to enable timely care.
  • Participates in hospital-wide bed board meetings.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Medical Surgical Ortho Charge RN, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.


Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.


To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.



  • Mentors others in areas such as competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals, and participation in inservice education.

  • Evaluates care given by staff, coaches to improve care, and ensures standard of care is maintained.

  • Provides direct patient care as needed.

  • Exhibits a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and understands and coordinates the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.

  • Coordinates patient flow on the unit to facilitate the provision of timely and effective care.

  • Attends hospital-wide bed board meetings.


Job Requirements

Required


  • Associate Of Nursing and Two (2) years RN experience within applicable clinical specialty and/or charge nurse experience

  • Registered Nurse: AZ

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support

  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within six (6) months


Preferred


  • Bachelors of Science Nursing
