Job summary

Dallas Medical Center in Farmers Branch, TX is seeking a Medical-Surgical Charge Nurse to oversee Med/Surg units and balance administrative duties with patient care. The Charge RN will manage staffing, assign duties, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with policies while supporting a cohesive team focused on high-quality patient care.

Requirements include active RN license, BLS, ACLS, awareness of pediatric-specific needs (PALS), and BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS 30 days upon of hire and maintain current.
• PALS within 30 days of hire for units that admit pediatric patients.
• RN-C within 2 years of hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary supervisory figure for Med/Surg nursing staff during shifts, ensuring optimal care delivery and efficient patient flow
• Assess patient conditions, prioritize patient needs based on severity, and allocate resources effectively to provide timely care
• Mentor and support nursing staff, providing guidance, conflict resolution, and performance feedback to maintain a cohesive work team
• Serve as a liaison between physicians, nurses, patients, and families, ensuring clear communication about treatment plans and patient status
• Ensure readiness to respond swiftly to medical emergencies, coordinating with medical teams for critical interventions
• Implement hospital policies, maintain patient safety standards, and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements

We are seeking a Medical-Surgical Charge Nurse, also referred as a Med Surg Charge Nurse or Charge RN.
