Job summary
Gerber Hospital, part of Corewell Health, seeks a dedicated RN for the Intensive Care Unit 3W. You will provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients in a high-acuity environment, guided by ANA standards and the nursing process.
Responsibilities include assessment, planning, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. A BSN within 5 years and Michigan RN license are required; ACLS/BLS within specified timelines. Night shift, 36 hours per week, with every other weekend.
Qualifications
- Associates in Nursing Required
- Bachelor’s in Nursing Required within 5 years
- MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
- AHA/ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
Responsibilities
- Delivers nursing care per ANA standards and Michigan law.
- Uses nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Upholds ANA professional performance standards.
- Aims for optimal patient outcomes.

Gerber Med Surg is 13 beds. 4 are observation and 9 are inpatient. The unit is currently undergoing a refresh, new paint, flooring, and artwork in the halls and patient rooms, in addition to a new nurse’s station, breakroom and staff bathroom. Gerber Med Surg is home to our largest patient population and is a cornerstone of the hospital. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound. Coming soon to Gerber are telemedicine palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site, a huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.
Gerber ICU is 11 beds, 2 of those are observation beds, 9 are inpatient beds. The ICU is going to be refreshed with new paint, flooring, and artwork. It is a mixed unit, so Med/Surg and ICU patients are both present. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, wound, and VICU. Coming soon to Gerber is telemedical palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general surgery, and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site. A huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.
Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
