Job summary

Dignity Health in Laveen, Arizona seeks an Emergency Services Charge RN to oversee a department of frontline nurses and deliver rapid, individualized care for patients of all ages in acute settings.

You will mentor nurses, maintain standards of care, evaluate performance, and collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff in a high‑pressure environment focused on immediate stabilization and optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• RN with ADN or diploma; foreign equivalent accepted.
• Two years RN experience in applicable clinical specialty.
• AZ or Compact state RN license.
• American Heart Association certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
• Strong communication and ability to lead and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Mentor staff in competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, NPSG, and in-service education.
• Provide direct patient care as appropriate to meet patient and department needs.
• Evaluate care given by staff.
• Coach staff to improve care.
• Ensure the standard of care is maintained.
• Coordinate Ethics Consults when needed.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Emergency Services Charge RN, you will oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day, you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, aligning with the department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable, confident, and an excellent communicator in one‑to‑one interactions and in front of groups. You must be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

You will leverage your specialized expertise to provide rapid, individualized, comprehensive care, making swift and critical assessments, performing skilled procedures, and meticulously implementing urgent patient care plans for patients of all ages, from minor injuries to life‑threatening emergencies.

You’ll collaborate seamlessly within an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, advanced practice providers, paramedics, and support staff, contributing to a high‑pressure, yet highly rewarding, environment focused on immediate stabilization and optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentor others in competency, documentation, equipment use, plan of care, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), and in‑service education participation.
• Provide direct patient care as appropriate to meet the needs of patients and the department.
• Evaluate care given by staff.
• Coach staff to improve care.
• Ensure the standard of care is maintained.
• Exhibit a general understanding of the process for dealing with ethical dilemmas and coordinate the process for obtaining an Ethics Consult.

Job Requirements

Required:

• Associate of Nursing (ADN), Diploma or foreign equivalent
• Two (2) years RN experience in applicable clinical specialty
• Registered Nurse: AZ or Compact state license
• American Heart Association certifications: Basic Life Support (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Nursing (BSN)
• Previous Charge Nurse experience
• Experience with personal computers

Pay Range

$42.85 – $63.77 per hour.
