Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC is seeking a Charge Registered Nurse (RN) in Neuro Science to join a 20-bed unit offering self-scheduling and 12-hour shifts. You will lead nursing care for neuro/ortho patients, perform assessments, and coordinate care plans.

Applicants must hold an NC or compact RN license, BLS, ACLS/PALS/NIHSS within six months, and 2–4 years' Neuro/Ortho RN experience; BSN preferred but not required. 3x12 shifts, day shifts, $20,000 commitment incentive.

Qualifications

• Current RN license: North Carolina or multi-state compact.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS, PALS and NIHSS within six months of hire.
• 2–4 years Neuro/Ortho RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

The RN Neuro Science unit at Frye Regional Medical Center is a 20- Bed unit with a patient population including, but not limited to, spine/ neck/ head surgery, stroke and seizure. The unit offers self-scheduling, 12-hour shifts, and every-other-weekend rotation, helping promote flexibility and work-life balance. Nurses gain valuable experience caring for a diverse patient population while working alongside experienced leaders and a strong interdisciplinary team.

How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs

Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions

Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient

Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record

Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient

Performs timely and accurate QI assessments

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license. Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Additional requirements include:

• Active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.

Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.

ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS are required within six months of hire.

2-4 years of Neuro/ Ortho RN experience required.

Charge Nurse experience preferred.
