Requirements include Texas RN licensure, multi-state licensure via the NLC, BSN completion within four years, BLS within 14 days, ACLS on hire, and at least one year of Med/Surg nursing experience. This role emphasizes staff leadership and budgeted performance improvement.

Qualifications

• Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
• RN with Texas Board of Nursing or multi-state license recognition via Nurse Licensure Compact.
• BSN degree to be completed within four years of hire.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire and before direct patient care.
• ACLS through AHA required upon hire.
• Minimum of one year of Med/Surg hospital experience.

Learn About A Day in the Life of a Med Surg RN:

Responsibilities:

• This position serves as the clinical leader responsible for operations and management of the Med/Surg unit.
• The Charge Nurse assumes responsibility for shift operations such as making appropriate assignments, coordinating care, resolving issues, functioning as the resource nurse, participating in staffing decisions, rounding on patients, and maintaining TJC compliance.
• The Charge Nurse assumes long range responsibilities such as employee evaluations, corrective action, business/budget planning, and performance improvement.

Job Requirements:

• Completion of education to obtain Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Registered Nurse (RN) with Texas Board of Nursing – OR – current home state license is required for multi-state license recognition through the Nurse Licensure Compact
• Required to complete the education necessary to obtain my BSN degree within four (4) years of my date of hire with Seton Medical Center Harker Heights
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• ACLS through American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Med/Surg hospital setting required

Job Requirements Preferred:

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a charge or relief charge nurse
