Job summary

Seton Medical Center Harker Heights in Texas is seeking a Night Shift Medical-Surgical Charge Nurse to lead the Med/Surg unit and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care. This role supports staffing, rounds, and coordination of care during night operations.

The position requires TX RN licensure, BSN to be completed within four years, BLS within 14 days of hire, ACLS on hire, and a minimum of one year in Med/Surg nursing. This is a full-time, on-site night shift opportunity.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee long-range responsibilities including evaluations and budget planning.

Responsibilities

• This position serves as the clinical leader responsible for operations and management of the Med/Surg unit.
• The Charge Nurse assumes responsibility for shift operations such as making appropriate assignments, coordinating care, resolving issues, functioning as the resource nurse, participating in staffing decisions, rounding on patients, and maintaining TJC compliance.
• The Charge Nurse assumes long range responsibilities such as employee evaluations, corrective action, business/budget planning, and performance improvement.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Completion of education to obtain Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Registered Nurse (RN) with Texas Board of Nursing – OR – current home state license is required for multi-state license recognition through the Nurse Licensure Compact
• Required to complete the education necessary to obtain my BSN degree within four (4) years of my date of hire with Seton Medical Center Harker Heights
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• ACLS through American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Med/Surg hospital setting required

Job Requirements Preferred:

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a charge or relief charge nurse
