Job summary

MercyOne Genesis Hospice Care is seeking a Charge RN to plan, coordinate and evaluate the delivery of hospice services in home, nursing home, or assisted living settings. The role provides clinical direction, ensures safe and culturally competent care, and supports staff performance within a regulatory framework.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN, an active RN license in IA or IL, BLS certification, and 3+ years of hospice experience.

Qualifications

• Education: 4 year college/university degree or equivalent experience
• Field of Study: Nursing
• Special Training: Basic Life Support
• Training Preferred: Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing
• Licensures/Registration: RN in Iowa or Illinois; second state within six months
• Experience: More than 3 years experience required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinates and evaluates the delivery of hospice support services for patients.
• Provides clinical direction and feedback regarding performance of support staff.
• Assists supervisor and manager with budgeting, productivity management, staff orientation, ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines, and data collection.
• Assumes responsibility in the event of the manager's and hospice supervisor's absence.

As a Charge RN at MercyOne, you will Plan coordinates and evaluates the delivery of support services for hospice patients in the home/nursing home/assisted living facility. Assures the provision of safe, effective, culturally competent, family based, holistic care for the terminally ill patients. Provides clinical direction and feedback regarding performance of support staff. Assists supervisor and manager in a variety of tasks, including the following: Budget development, productivity management, new staff orientation, ensuring compliance of staff with identified clinical skill development/competencies/practice guidelines, performance improvement activities, data collection/analysis and operationalizing agency policies and procedures, preparation for compliance with regulatory agencies, identifying program development needs and assisting in implementation. Assumes responsibility in the event of the manager's and hospice supervisor's

Schedule

• Part time 24 hours a week
• Weekends only
• 12 hours shifts 0800-2000

General Requirements

• Supervisory Responsibility: Advanced Direction: The job requires some accountability for scheduling, assigning, or coordinating work. The employee will check the quality of work, provide guidance, instruction, training, and direction to others. The job requires some formal or official supervisory responsibility. The individual serves as a group leader and acts in an assistant supervisory or lead role. In addition, the employee is expected to provide information or suggestions on human resources matters.
• Materials Responsibility: Limited: Work requires limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include supplies, equipment, inventories, small budgets, and other similar material assets. The employee has a limited amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors is also limited in terms of damage, waste or financial loss. Problems associated with material resources are not complex. The volume of resources may vary, but the level of difficulty in dealing with these resources is uncomplicated.
• Key Relationships: Co-workers/Health System Employees, Outside Agencies/Other Health Care Providers, General Public/Visitors/Volunteers, Physicians/Medical Office Staff, Students/Interns/Residents/Outside Instructors, Vendors/Clients, Third Party Payors/Insurance Companies

Education

• Education: 4 year college/university degree or equivalent experience
• Field OF Study: Nursing
• Special Training: Basic Life Support
• Training Preferred: Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing
• Licensures/Registration: Registered Nurse in Iowa or Illinois required at time of hire, second state required within six months. Valid driver's license, auto insurance-Genesis minimum limits required.
• Experience: More than 3 years experience required.
