Job summary

Wexford Health Sources, Inc. seeks a Charge Registered Nurse (RN) at Douglas County Correctional Center in Omaha, NE. Lead nursing staff, manage daily clinical operations, and ensure safe, compassionate patient care within a correctional setting.

Under the Director of Nursing, provide assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care while collaborating with physicians, APNs, and correctional personnel to coordinate services.

Qualifications

• RN license in state of practice (unrestricted).
• Current CPR certification.
• 1–2 years clinical or supervisory experience preferred.
• Correctional healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments, triage, treatment planning, and ongoing evaluation of care.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, treatments, and other nursing interventions.
• Supervise and guide nursing personnel, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
• Collaborate with physicians, APNs, nursing staff, and correctional personnel to coordinate care.
• Assist with examinations, minor procedures, patient education, referrals, and continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records and support QA, chart audits, and infection control standards.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, you’ll provide patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while serving as a clinical resource for nursing staff. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting patient assessments, triage, treatment planning, and ongoing evaluation of care
• Administering medications, IV therapy, treatments, diagnostic testing, and other nursing interventions
• Supervising and guiding nursing personnel while promoting teamwork and effective communication
• Collaborating with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and correctional personnel to coordinate care
• Assisting with examinations, minor procedures, patient education, referrals, and continuity of care
• Maintaining accurate electronic medical records and supporting quality assurance, chart audits, and infection control standards

What You’ll Need

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in state of practice
• Current CPR certification
• One to two years of clinical or supervisory experience preferred
• Correctional healthcare experience preferred
