Lifepoint Health® is seeking a Charge Reconciliation Specialist at UP Health System - Marquette. In this role, you'll ensure accurate billing charges are captured and inputted in the system. This position requires 2–3 years of medical billing and coding experience and a completion of relevant training.

You'll work with electronic medical records systems, help improve the efficiency of billing processes, and contribute to a healthier community. Competitive benefits include health insurance and tuition reimbursement.

How You’ll Contribute

The Charge Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all billing charges are captured in an appropriate manner. They are accountable for the accurate and timely charge capture and data input of patient encounters in the billing system and the resolution of assigned edits.

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum Education

• Completion of Medical Coding and Billing program or related training required
• Associate degree in related field preferred

Minimum Work Experience

• 2–3 years of medical billing and coding experience required

Required Skills

• Experience working with electronic medical records systems required
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member
• Competent in using medical record systems; EPIC a benefit
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and CMS requirements and standards

Essential Functions

• Identify, analyze, and reconcile billing errors or omissions in queue.
• Prepare and post charges to appropriate accounts, including inputting patient registrations and clearing registrations and charge entry edit lists.
• Prepare and scan batches for data entry.
• Perform detailed data collection for tracking and monitoring on charge entry related items.
• Resolve specific front‑end edits and batch maintenance issues.
• Collaborate with department manager(s), director(s) and leadership to continually improve and maintain the efficiency and accuracy of the overall charging process, including monitoring department queues.
• Be responsible for the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of entering all patients' encounter‑related charges.
