Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.
• RN - Registered Nurse licensure in Alabama or a compact state required upon hire.
• BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification active; computer-based certification obtained within 30 days required.
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide family-centered nursing care per policy and Nurse Practice Act.
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned and supervise patient care by licensed and non-licensed staff.
• Administer medications, including controlled substances, and transfuse blood products.
• Initiate IVs, monitor patients, and respond to emergency situations.
• Maintain accurate medical records and discharge documentation in the hospital system.
• Educate patients and families and coordinate care with the health care team.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and adhere to infection control standards.
