Job summary

Medilodge of Zeeland is seeking a Charge Nurse (RN) for full-time shifts in Zeeland, MI. Starting wages range from $49.40 to $57.52 per hour with a $1,500 sign-on bonus for full-time employees.

Shift options include 6PM-6AM or 6AM-6PM with every other weekend rotation. RN licensure in Michigan and CPR certification are required; one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited RN School of Nursing.
  • Valid RN license in the state employed.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • One year of nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates and leads team conferences to develop individualized nursing care plans.
  • Assesses and documents resident condition and nursing needs.
  • Implements physicians' orders accurately and promptly.
  • Assigns nursing care to team members based on resident needs and qualifications.
  • Supervises, directs and evaluates LPNs and CNAs.
  • Administers medications, starts IVs and performs treatments as required, documenting per regulations.
  • Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
  • Assists physicians with tests and procedures within state scope.
  • Ensures supplies are used economically and equipment maintained safely.
  • Records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents.
  • Coordinates nursing care when residents undergo therapy or procedures.
  • Interviews applicants and participates in staff hiring and disciplinary actions.

Requirements

Qualifications: Education:

  • Graduate of accredited RN School of Nursing.

Licenses/Certification:

  • Valid RN license in the state employed.
  • Valid CPR certification.

Experience:

  • One year of nursing experience preferred.
Job Functions:

  • Administers medications, starts IVs and performs treatments for assigned residents, and documents that treatment as required company, and local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
  • Assists physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state specified Nursing Practice Act.
  • Ensures that supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner.
  • Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents.
  • Coordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.
  • Interviews applicants and recommends hires. Participates in counseling, disciplinary action, and termination of staff, to extent permitted by state practice act.
  • Supervises nursing unit, which includes scheduling and directing the nursing staff to extent permitted by state practice act.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
