Job summary

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Leesville is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to lead day-to-day patient care within the Nursing department. The RN will provide direct care, supervise LPNs, MHTs, CNAs, and Medication Technicians, and serve as Charge Nurse as assigned.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a solid understanding of DSM-5 criteria and psychiatric conditions.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing is required.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• One year RN experience preferred.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with computers and general PC applications.
• Basic understanding of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria.
• Knowledge of medical and psychiatric diagnoses.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day coordination of patient care on the unit.
• Provide direct patient care within the RN scope of practice.
• Act as Charge Nurse when assigned; oversee staff in absence of DON.
• Document findings promptly and accurately in the medical record.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities and chart reviews.
• Communicate with medical staff about patient issues.
• Complete admissions paperwork and daily documentation per policy.
• Adhere to infection control and HR policies.
