Job summary

Verland in Sewickley, PA, is seeking a Charge Nurse to lead nursing staff and ensure high-quality care for residents at the Main Campus. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered for NEW employees. Full-time position with 36 hours weekly and rotating day shifts.

Responsibilities include health assessments, emergency response, staff training, and coordination with the DON/ADON. Requires PA RN licensure and 2+ years RN experience; bachelor’s degree preferred. Valid driver’s license and clearances required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with PA RN licensure.
• At least two years of RN experience in health care.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical health assessments.

Charge Nurse

Verland is currently seeking a Charge Nurse to join our team in Sewickley, PA, at our Main Campus. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to the individuals that call Verland their Home.

Shifts Available

• Full Time - 36 hours
• Week 1: 6 am – 6:30 pm (Wednesday / Thursday / Friday)
• Week 2: 6 am – 6:30 pm (Thursday / Friday / Saturday)

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive physical health assessments.
• Monitors and oversees others to ensure safe professional nursing practices are maintained.
• Responds to medical emergencies and provides care and treatment of residents in emergency situations.
• Controls the emergency scene in the absence of the primary care provider and decides whether the individual should be transported to the emergency room by EMS.
• Maintains emergency equipment and supplies in a designated area and ensures they are checked daily by nursing staff.
• Assists with the planning, development, coordination, and evaluation of activities related to the nursing function in the ICF.
• Educates and trains all levels of staff members and serves as a preceptor to new nursing staff. Assists the new nurse with the orientation checklist, observes, provides feedback, and plans learning experiences.
• Assists the Director of Nursing (DON) and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) with supervision of nursing staff, delegates work assignments, and reviews nursing activities in the ICF.
• Actively participates in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings to coordinate health care and attend annual staffing and ITR reviews.
• Attends meetings as assigned and makes rounds of assigned areas regularly.
• Reviews physicians’ orders and Medication Administration Records to ensure medications/treatments are administered as ordered, notifying the DON/ADON of any exceptions or errors. Administers and documents prescribed medications and treatments.
• Performs laboratory procedures as ordered.
• Documents care administered to individuals daily, monthly, and annually. Ensures all assessments and documentation are completed by appropriate staff for each shift.
• Responsible for calling in replacement staff in the event of a call off; if unable to fill the vacancy, may call the ADON/DON for assistance.
• Performs related duties as requested.

Requirements

Minimum Experience And Training

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Pennsylvania Licensure.
• At least two years of experience as a practicing RN in a health agency, hospital, or related health care facility.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Charge Nurse or management experience preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License and completion of all required clearances.
