Charge Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Central Florida Communities is seeking a compassionate and dependable Charge LPN to supervise nursing services and help support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position coordinates resident healthcare needs, guides nursing staff, and ensures services are delivered safely and in accordance with each resident’s treatment plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide, monitor, and coordinate nursing care, treatment, and services for residents.
• Supervise and support nursing staff in meeting residents’ medical, dental, direct-care, and developmental needs.
• Review electronic documentation daily to ensure continuity of care and communication of resident health needs.
• Coordinate medical services and communicate significant health concerns to the Director of Nursing and facility physician.
• Maintain the resident medical appointment calendar and coordinate staffing for appointments.
• Prepare the monthly nursing schedule and assist with maintaining adequate staffing.
• Maintain nursing, pharmacy, and infection-control procedures and monitor staff compliance.
• Monitor medical supply inventory and order supplies within the approved facility budget.
• Train employees on job-specific nursing and safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, company, and facility standards.
• Recognize and respond promptly to health concerns, safety hazards, and unsafe behaviors.
• Demonstrate proper use of Safety-Care procedures when responding to aggression, self-injury, or property destruction.
• Protect residents’ rights, dignity, safety, and quality of life.
• Report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or inappropriate conduct in accordance with applicable law and company procedures.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents.
• Attend all required training, including abuse-risk management and safety training.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Florida.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, healthcare providers, and team members.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English for effective communication and documentation.
• Ability to work additional hours when needed to support appropriate staffing and resident care.

Preferred Experience

• At least six months of nursing experience in a hospital, rehabilitation, long-term care, behavioral health, or related healthcare setting.
• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Previous supervisory or charge-nurse experience.

Physical and Work Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, kneel, reach, twist, grasp, push, and pull frequently.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 35 pounds independently and 50 pounds or more with assistance.
• Ability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors.
• Ability to work in an environment with frequent noise.
• Position may involve occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
