Position Summary

True Precision Medical is seeking an experienced and dependable Registered Nurse to serve as Charge Nurse for our ambulatory surgical team. This position provides daily clinical leadership, coordinates patient flow, supports staff, and helps ensure that patients receive safe, efficient, and compassionate care throughout their surgical experience.

The ideal candidate is a confident clinical leader who communicates clearly, remains calm under pressure, and can balance direct patient care with operational responsibilities. This individual should be comfortable holding team members accountable, resolving workflow challenges, and collaborating closely with providers, anesthesia personnel, and clinic leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

• Coordinate daily clinical operations and provide direction to nursing and support staff.
• Assign staff based on procedure schedules, patient needs, staff competencies, and operational priorities.
• Lead the daily clinical huddle and communicate staffing, scheduling, safety, and patient-care concerns.
• Serve as the primary clinical resource for staff during the assigned shift.
• Support team members with assessments, procedures, medication administration, emergencies, and complex patient-care situations.
• Promote professional communication, teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
• Address performance or conduct concerns promptly and communicate significant issues to the Director of Nursing or Administrator.
• Assist with the orientation, training, and competency validation of new clinical employees.
• Provide coaching and ongoing education to strengthen staff performance and patient safety.

Patient Care and Flow

• Oversee patient movement through pre-operative, procedural, and post-anesthesia recovery areas.
• Monitor the daily surgical schedule and make adjustments to reduce delays and maintain efficient patient flow.
• Ensure that pre-operative requirements, consents, provider orders, testing, and medical clearances are complete.
• Verify that patients meet established discharge criteria before leaving the facility.
• Provide direct nursing care when needed, including patient assessment, IV placement, medication administration, monitoring, and emergency intervention.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and coordinate an appropriate clinical response.
• Communicate delays, concerns, or changes in the plan of care to patients, caregivers, providers, and staff.
• Help resolve patient or caregiver concerns professionally and compassionately.

Safety, Quality, and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with infection-control practices, medication-safety standards, emergency procedures, and patient-identification requirements.
• Confirm that required safety checks, surgical time-outs, handoffs, and documentation are completed.
• Monitor compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and facility policies.
• Assist with incident reporting, medication variances, patient complaints, and follow-up investigations.
• Participate in quality-improvement initiatives, audits, staff meetings, and policy reviews.
• Identify workflow or safety concerns and recommend practical improvements.
• Verify that emergency equipment, medications, supplies, and clinical areas are properly stocked and ready for use.
• Assist with emergency drills and ensure staff understand their assigned responsibilities.
• Maintain readiness for regulatory surveys and accreditation inspections.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Assist with staffing schedules, call-outs, break coverage, and daily assignments.
• Communicate supply, equipment, staffing, and operational needs to leadership.
• Collaborate with providers and leadership to address scheduling or workflow concerns.
• Assist with maintaining employee competencies, certifications, and required clinical education.
• Support inventory management and help prevent supply shortages or unnecessary waste.
• Complete required reports and clinical documentation accurately and promptly.
• Perform additional duties within the RN scope of practice as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Arizona or a valid multistate compact license.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
• At least three years of recent nursing experience in ambulatory surgery, perioperative nursing, PACU, critical care, emergency nursing, or a related setting.
• Previous charge nurse, clinical lead, or nursing leadership experience.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, delegation, and emergency-response skills.
• Working knowledge of medication safety, infection prevention, and perioperative standards.
• Ability to prioritize competing demands and coordinate care in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Two or more years of leadership experience in an ambulatory surgery or outpatient procedural setting.
• Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse, Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse, or Certified Perioperative Nurse credential.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification, if applicable to the patient population.
• Experience with regulatory surveys, accreditation standards, quality improvement, and staff competency management.

Schedule

• Monday-Friday: 7:00AM-3:30PM
• Schedule may vary according to procedure volume, staffing, and patient-care needs.
• Occasional early-morning, extended, or additional hours may be required.
