Tenet-AZ Region is seeking an OR - Operating Room Charge Nurse (RN) in Avondale, Arizona for a full-time, day-shift position. The Charge RN coordinates a clinic unit, mentors staff, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards while delivering high-quality nursing care under pressure.

The role requires an AZ RN license, CPR, ACLS as applicable, and at least two years of relevant nursing experience; BSN is preferred.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an accredited nursing school.
• BSN preferred.
• Two years of relevant clinical nursing experience; Level II EQ requirement includes two years of Level III NICU experience with neonatal ventilator.
• Two years of supervisory/management experience preferred.
• Current AZ RN license; CPR; ACLS as applicable by facility; certifications per department requirements (e.g., PALS/ENPC, NRP as applicable).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate functions and scheduling for the unit RN staff.
• Serve as liaison to internal and external customers (pre-hospital providers, medical staff, administration).
• Develop and implement plans to meet regulatory requirements.

The Charge RN must be able to work under high pressure in a fast-paced environment. You will apply good interpersonal and communication process utilizing verbal and non-verbal skills to achieve organizational service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment. The position requires the ability to be conscientious, organized, and orderly and the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the surgeon, patients, and staff.This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

Charge RN OR FT Days Position Summary

Coordinates functions and activities related to a single departmental function. Position is responsible for a clinic unit. Position coordinates the scheduling efforts of the unit RN's. Acts as liaison person to internal and external customers (i.e., pre-hospital providers, medical and nursing staff, hospital administration). Responsible for developing and implementing plans/processes for meeting regulatory requirements. Trains and mentors staff.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively implement change and assist with the management of departmental budget. Must be able to independently make decisions in high-stress situations.

SUPERVISES: Other members of healthcare team.

THE CHARGE RN OR FT DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing school

PREFERRED EDUCATION: BSN

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Two years relevant clinical nursing experience and for Level II EQ Only: A minimum of two years of current Level III NICU experience including neonatal ventilator.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Management experience with two years supervisory. Certification in specialty area of practice preferred.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona. CPR. ACLS as applicable by Facility/by Department:

ER, ICU, Endoscopy, Tele, Cardiac Cath Lab, L&D: ACLS required upon orientation completion.

ER: PALS or ENPC required or must obtain within ninety days

PACU: ACLS required or must obtain within six months of hire, PALS preferred.

Post-partum, Nursery, L&D: NRP required upon orientation completion.

Bariatrics: Certification or specialized training in bariatrics specialty area of practice.

Wound Care: Wound-Ostomy Certification or Training in Wound Care and/or Ostomy Care.

REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING: L&D only: Advanced Fetal Monitoring or must obtain within six months of hire.
