Job summary

Baptist Health in Kentucky is seeking a Charge Nurse for the Motherbaby Unit (1st shift, full-time). This 24-bed telemetry unit supports our stroke program and neurology/neurosurgery care, and serves as overflow for orthopedic patients.

The Charge Nurse oversees workflow and staff, coordinating admissions, transfers, and discharges. Under Unit Director supervision, you model compassionate leadership, provide rounds, assessments, and treatments, and ensure education and care coordination for

Summary Job Description: Job Description Charge Nurse, Motherbaby Unit Shift: Full-time, 1st Shift About 3F: This unit is a 24- bed Telemetry unit that supports our comprehensive stroke program. It specializes in the care of Neurology, Neurosurgery, TIA, and CVA. This unit also serves as an overflow for orthopedic patients. The patient population is transferred from ICU, ED, and PACU.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of Unit Director, Clinical House Supervisor, +/or Designee, provides supervision of workflow and staff for a designated shift in overseeing the efficient functioning of the department. Assures the provision of patient care, by addressing performance, risk management, patient, family and physician issues/concerns as appropriate. Role models caring behaviors in relationships with others. The Charge Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness. As a clinical nurse, the charge nurse spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable, etc.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:

Active Kentucky RN license BLS, ACLS and/or other designated unit specific certification training/requirements. Bachelor's degree in nursing or currently actively pursuing a BSN degree. (BSN degree must be completed within 5 years of starting program) Minimum of one year of Registered Nurse experience.
