Job summary

UNC Health in Smithfield, NC seeks a Charge Auditor / Revenue Integrity role to support charge improvement initiatives across Surgical Services. You will analyze charges, ensure correct coding and timely billing to optimize revenue.

Responsibilities include auditing OR charges, aligning with Epic workflows, and educating staff on billing changes. 40-hour workweek, onsite, with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer data entry and typing required.
• Prior experience in customer service desired.
• Medical terminology required.

Responsibilities

• Audits Preference Card charges, applies correct mark-up, and enters the correct EAP code daily.
• Complete OR journal daily and post/correct cancellation codes to keep statistics accurate.
• Compare surgical services locations to charge interface vs schedule to ensure correct charging.
• Daily charge audits: review charges, document times, identify duplicates or missing charges; coordinate corrections in Epic.
• Notify nurse, team leader and managers when discrepancies in journal information including implants arise.
• Facilitate billing of each surgical patient within 72 hours; document reasons in Epic when not met.
• Research charge kick-outs and re-assign charges in Epic as needed.
• Educate Surgical Services team on changes or improvements in billing processes.
• Assist with scheduling and billing of surgical patients as indicated.
• Ensure all charges are complete for Surgical Services including OR, PACU, Heart & Vascular, Endoscopy.
• Process charges for supplies used from OR on medical-surgical units.
• Reconcile charges with 3rd party invoices before Purchase Order requisition by SS Materials.
• Discharge Endoscopy nurse-based procedure patients.
