Job summary

M3DS Academy is seeking an experienced Character Artist to mentor students remotely, guiding their projects from references to final presentations. You will provide one-on-one feedback to improve art, technical workflows, and portfolio quality.

This fully remote freelance role offers flexible scheduling and the chance to work with motivated learners. Prior teaching or mentorship experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Professional character art experience and a strong character portfolio.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, form, proportions, and character construction.
• Experience with ZBrush, Maya or Blender, and Substance 3D Painter.
• Understanding of real-time character production, optimization, and presentation.
• Clothing and hair workflow experience is highly desirable.
• Clear feedback in English and attendance at mentorship sessions.

Responsibilities

• Guide topology, UVs, baking, texturing, materials, and game-ready workflows.
• Support hair and grooming workflows where relevant.
• Help students plan achievable milestones and present their finished characters.

What we're looking for
