Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in a data engineering or software engineering role with a data focus.
• 3+ years in a leadership, mentorship, or coaching role; formal management experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in writing complex, optimized SQL queries and data modeling.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure) and data warehousing.
• Strong emphasis on data quality, reliability, and scalable pipelines.
• Experience building and optimizing ETL/ELT data pipelines and familiarity with Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the direct line manager for a chapter of Data Engineering Specialists, fostering growth via coaching and development.
• Define critical data engineering skills for the future, especially around AI technologies.
• Lead design, building, and maintenance of robust data pipelines and infrastructure with best practices.
• Collaborate with Data Architecture to improve data quality, reliability, and accessibility.
• Promote a collaborative chapter culture, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence.
• Work with Data Scientists and Analysts to understand data needs and deliver engineering solutions.
• Conduct performance check-ins and annual reviews; plan workforce development and recruitment.
• Contribute hands-on to an agile squad (about 30% of time) toward squad goals.
• Support Data Governance, security, and privacy policy implementation and feedback.
