Job summary

Crescent Hospice in Orangeburg, SC is seeking a Per Diem Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients and families during life’s meaningful moments. The role emphasizes dignity, peace, and human connection beyond the clinical setting.

You’ll work with an interdisciplinary team, offer interfaith spiritual care and grief support, document care activities, and help coordinate services. A seminary degree (BD/MDiv) and CPE are preferred, with strong communication and travel

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited seminary or theology degree (BD, MDiv) or equivalent ministry certification.
• Minimum one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred.
• Experience in hospice, hospital, or community health settings preferred.
• Comfortable working in interfaith settings and with diverse beliefs.
• Proficient computer skills, including EMR usage.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assess and address spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families as part of the care plan.
• Provide spiritual counseling and guidance for individuals and families of all faiths.
• Offer grief and bereavement support throughout the hospice journey.
• Collaborate with the Program Director and care team to coordinate spiritual care.
• Communicate effectively with hospice staff and community partners.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.

• Provide spiritual counseling, comfort, and guidance for individuals and families of all faiths and belief systems.
• Offer grief and bereavement support throughout the hospice journey and following loss.
• Collaborate with the Program Director and care team to coordinate spiritual care and ensure holistic, compassionate support.
• Communicate effectively with hospice staff and community partners to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and agency policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv, or equivalent theological degree), or appropriate certification in pastoral ministry strongly preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) strongly preferred.
• Comfortable working in interfaith settings and able to accept diverse beliefs.
• Experience providing spiritual care in a hospice, hospital, or community health setting is strongly preferred.
• Must have the ability to handle stress associated with ministering to patients/residents and their loved ones who experience pain, suffering, death, and grief.
• Must be computer proficient in typing and various programs, including a background in EMR.
• Current driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to dependable transportation.

Compensation

$23.00 - $29.00 per hour (Average Pay Range). The pay range listed represents a general guideline for the role and is not a guarantee of the final offer. Compensation will be determined based based on the selected candidate’s relevant experience and the specific responsibilities of the position. Final compensation rate will be discussed and confirmed at the conclusion of the interview process.
