Job summary

Hinds LifeCare, a trusted nonprofit hospice provider in California's Central Valley, seeks a Per Diem Chaplain to deliver spiritual care to patients and families as part of the interdisciplinary team.

The Chaplain reports to the RN Clinical Manager and will perform duties aligned with hospice philosophy, including assessments, counseling, and collaboration with staff to support end-of-life care and bereavement services.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited seminary or school of theology. Ordination or endorsement from a faith community.
• Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent training and/or experience in hospital or pastoral ministry.
• Bachelor's degree from a related specialty; Masters degree preferred.
• 1–3 years prior experience with patients/families dealing with life threatening illness and death desirable.
• Understanding of the interdisciplinary team dynamics with staff, clergy, and community.
• Recent TB, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, HepB immunizations.
• Must have a valid driver's license and willingness to use personal vehicle.
• Proof of automobile insurance, current auto registration and acceptable driving record (≤3 points in 36 months).
• Ability to meet physical demands (Push, Pull, Lift/Carry 35 lbs).
• Available to work days as needed.

Hinds LifeCare, one of the most well-known and well-respected nonprofit agencies in California's Central Valley and a pioneer in the practice of hospice and palliative care, is seeking a Per Diem Chaplain to join our team.

Reporting to the RN Clinical Manager, the Chaplain is responsible for the provision of spiritual services and support to patients and their family/caregiver in keeping with their belief system and the spiritual philosophy of Hinds Hospice. The Chaplain implements their activities relating to spirituality of hospice care consistent with policies and procedures.

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

• One-three years prior experience in working with patients/families dealing with life threatening illness and death desirable.
• An understanding of the internal dynamics of the Interdisciplinary team with other staff members, externally, in the patient/family setting, with other clergy, and in the community.
• Recent TB, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, HepB immunizations.
• Must have a valid drivers license and a willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment.
• Must show proof of automobile insurance, proof of current auto registration and acceptable driving record (no more than 3 points within a 36-month period).
