Job summary

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is seeking a Chaplain to provide religious mandated and non-mandated services, counsel inmates, and guide spiritual matters within facilities across the five boroughs.

The role requires coordination of services, education classes, and collaboration with staff, ensuring compliance with laws while engaging with the community and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Ecclesiastical endorsement by the official endorsing agency of the candidate's faith or denomination, and by the Committee on Chaplaincies.
• Four Units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education).
• Experience leading MBSR or similar meditation modalities.
• Familiarity with various religious beliefs is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide religious mandated and non-mandated services and counsel inmates.
• Instruct religious education classes and study groups.
• Schedule and supervise religious services and volunteers.
• Coordinate congregate and community engagement events with internal and external parties.
• Ensure compliance with laws, rules, directives, policies, protocols and standards.
