Job summary

Mercy Health in Tiffin is seeking a Chaplain I to accompany patients, families, and staff with spiritual support during illness, crisis, loss, and death. You will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, modeling mercy and compassionate care.

The role emphasizes non-proselytizing pastoral care, religious rituals, and collaboration with hospital staff. A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a Master’s preferred, and CPE training within the first year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (required) in a related field such as Religious or Theological Studies.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes the sacramental needs of the Catholic population.
• Provide for religious and ritual needs of diverse faith groups.
• Minister to a diverse population in a non-proselytizing manner and provide basic emotional and spiritual support to patients, visitors, our community, and fellow associates.
• Provide constructive pastoral presence by employing pastoral skills including active listening and the ability to communicate in a calm, non-anxious manner.
• Provide spiritual support to end-of-life situations and crisis’.
• 24/7 call with expectations for holidays/weekends
