Job summary

AccentCare in Westminster, CO seeks a Hospice Chaplain (Spiritual Counselor III) to join a purpose-driven care team. You will assess spiritual needs for patients and families, coordinate with faith communities, and support bereavement and terminal care, leveraging extensive CPE and board-certified credentials.

The position requires a Master’s degree, ordination/credentialing, and multiple years of chaplain experience, with benefits including comprehensive health coverage and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Master's degree is required from an accredited institution.
• Ordained, credentialed, or commissioned per one's faith tradition.
• Four CPE units required; equivalencies may be granted by organizations.
• Previous hospice experience preferred; at least 1 year supervised experience in medical/educational/religious settings.
• Five years full-time experience as a Healthcare Chaplain.
• Board certified by APC/NAJC/NACC/CASC.
• CT: at least three years of pastoral/spiritual care experience.

Responsibilities

• Support families and communities through anticipatory grief and bereavement processes.
• Complete comprehensive spiritual needs assessment for patients and families.
• Serve as liaison to patient’s faith community.
• Respond to patient and family spiritual needs.
• Support patient and family clergy or spiritual caregivers regarding terminal illness.
• Build care relationships and empower patients in their spiritual journey.

Be the Best Spiritual Counselor III You Can Be

If you meet these qualifications, we would love to meet you:

• Master's degree, required, from an accredited college, university or divinity school
• Ordained, credentialed, or commissioned according to the practices of a legitimate and recognized religious organization or faith tradition
• Four Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit, from ACPE, required
• CPE equivalencies granted per established guidelines of individual professional organizations
• Previous hospice experience, preferred
• Minimum one-year supervised experience in medical, educational or religious agency or institution
• Five years full-time experience as a Healthcare Chaplain
• Board Certification (BCC) from APC (Association of Professional Chaplains), NAJC (National Association of Jewish Chaplains), NACC (National Association of Catholic Chaplains), or CASC (Canadian Association for Spiritual Care)
• Qualifications for state-specific requirements above minimum education standards are as follows:
• CT: Minimum three-years' experience providing pastoral or spiritual care

Responsibilities:

As a Spiritual Counselor III, you will:

• Support families and communities through the anticipatory grief and post-death bereavement processes
• Complete the spiritual needs comprehensive assessment of a patient and family-of-choice for all patients admitted to hospice services
• Serve as liaison to the patient and family's community of faith
• Respond to patient and family needs
• Support patient and family's clergy, or other spiritual caregiver, as relates to the terminal illness of the patients
• Build relationships of care and concerns partnering with persons in their spiritual journey, empowering them to draw from their identified areas of strength and support
