Job summary

AccentCare in Miami, FL is seeking a Hospice Chaplain to join our purpose-driven team providing spiritual care to patients and families in our North Miami coverage area. This full-time role includes on-call rotation and on-site work.

The candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree and be ordained or credentialed, with CPE units and experience in grief counseling; hospice experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university or divinity school.
• Ordained, credentialed, or commissioned according to the practices of a legitimate and recognized religious organization or faith tradition.
• Three CPE units from ACPE are required.
• Experience in grief or loss counseling is preferred.
• Previous hospice experience is a plus.
• Minimum one-year supervised experience in medical, educational or religious settings is preferred.
• Must be able to provide an inter-faith approach to spiritual care with cultural/theological competence.
• CT: Three-years’ experience providing pastoral or spiritual care is expected in Connecticut.

Responsibilities

• Support families through anticipatory grief and bereavement processes.
• Complete spiritual needs assessment for patients and families admitted to hospice services.
• Serve as liaison to patient and family’s faith community.
• Respond to patient and family needs with compassionate spiritual care.
• Support patient/family clergy or other spiritual caregivers as it relates to terminal illness.
• Build relationships within the patient’s spiritual journey and strength areas.

Be the Best Spiritual Counselor I You Can Be

If you meet these qualifications, we would love to meet you:

• Bachelor’s degree, required, from an accredited college, university or divinity school
• Ordained, credentialed, or commissioned according to the practices of a legitimate and recognized religious organization or faith tradition
• Three Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit, from ACPE, required
• CPE equivalencies granted per established guidelines of individual professional organizations
• Previous hospice experience, preferred
• Minimum one-year supervised experience in medical, educational or religious agency or institution
• Ability to provide an inter-faith approach to spiritual care, demonstrating a high level of cultural and theological competence in working with divers fail and belief systems
• Experience or education in grief or loss counseling
• Qualifications for state-specific requirements above minimum education standards are as follows:
• CT: Minimum three-years’ experience providing pastoral or spiritual care

Responsibilities

• Support families and communities through the anticipatory grief and post-death bereavement processes
• Complete the spiritual needs comprehensive assessment of a patient and family-of-choice for all patients admitted to hospice services
• Serve as liaison to the patient and family’s community of faith
• Respond to patient and family needs
• Support patient and family’s clergy, or other spiritual caregiver, as relates to the terminal illness of the patients
• Build relationships of care and concerns partnering with persons in their spiritual journey, empowering them to draw from their identified areas of strength and support
