Job summary

Geisinger seeks a Chaplain Associate to deliver spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and healthcare teams within an interdisciplinary care setting.

This flex per diem role requires meeting diverse faith traditions, collaborating with clinicians, and contributing to a healing environment where every interaction matters.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education required.
• Ordination/Commissioning or Ecclesiastical Endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends interdisciplinary team conferences, support meetings, and other meetings as appropriate.
• Assesses each patient, family member, and caregiver for spiritual needs in consultation with other team members.
• Provides direct chaplaincy services to patients, families, and caregivers of different beliefs.
• Consults with patients' clergy of choice and advises them on admission when requested.
• Documents visits and calls in the electronic medical record in a timely manner.
• Provides consultation, counsel, and support to other team members.
• Assists with training programs and in-service education as requested.

Education

Job description

• Assesses each patient, family member, and caregiver for spiritual needs and concerns in consultation with other team members
• Provides direct chaplaincy services (when accepted) to patients, family members, and caregivers of different philosophies and religious perspectives
• Consults, if requested by patient or family, the patient’s clergy of choice and advises them on admission
• Documents all visits and phone calls in the electronic medical record within an appropriate time frame
• Provides consultation, counsel, and support to other team members as appropriate
• Assists with training programs and in-service education as requested

• Ordination/ Commissioning or Ecclesiastical Endorsement
