Job summary

Geisinger seeks a Chaplain to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and caregivers in a clinical setting. The role includes interprofessional collaboration, assessment of spiritual needs, and direct chaplaincy services across diverse philosophies.

You will document all visits in the electronic medical record and contribute to training programs. This position emphasizes compassionate care and adherence to organization policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education; Ordination/Endorsement required.
• Ability to provide chaplaincy services to patients and families from diverse beliefs.
• Proven ability to document visits and calls in the EMR within required timelines.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Offers spiritual and emotional support directly to patients and their families, caregivers, and team members. Responsible for assisting with organization of daily activities as assigned.

Job Duties

• Functions as a member of the team by attending interdisciplinary team conference, support meetings, and other meetings as appropriate

• Assesses each patient, family member, and caregiver for spiritual needs and concerns in consultation with other team members

• Provides direct chaplaincy services (when accepted) to patients, family members, and caregivers of different philosophies and religious perspectives

• Consults, if requested by patient or family, the patient’s clergy of choice and advises them on admission

• Documents all visits and phone calls in the electronic medical record within an appropriate time frame

• Provides consultation, counsel, and support to other team members as appropriate

• Assists with training programs and in-service education as requested
