This position offers an exciting opportunity to travel to Utqiagvik frequently during the first few months, providing hands‑on support and building strong connections with the local court team. Travel will transition to a quarterly schedule over time.

If you are highly organized, adaptable, comfortable working independently, and take pride in providing reliable support to a court located in a remote community, we encourage you to apply. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping ensure the Utqiagvik court operates efficiently and effectively from Anchorage.

Applicants transferring from another State of Alaska agency or applicants with prior work experience or education in the legal field may receive consideration for advance step placement.

This position will work in person at the Snowden Administrative Building in Anchorage while providing remote assistance to the Utqiagvik court. The hourly rate of pay is $30.88.

Applicants located in Utqiagvik are invited to apply and if selected, will work in person at the Sadie Brower Neakok Courthouse. Applicants based in Utqiagvik will receive an hourly rate of $46.32.

This position provides direct administrative and case management support to a judge while helping ensure the efficient operation of the court. The position is based in Anchorage and provides comprehensive

remote administrative and operational support to the Utqiagvik court.

Responsibilities include preparing, organizing, and distributing judicial correspondence, orders, judgments, and other court documents; managing the judge's calendar, meetings, travel, and appointments; and serving as the primary point of contact for telephone calls and visitors with professionalism and discretion. The position also prepares and tracks required judicial reports, including pay affidavits, leave reports, and pending decision listings.

In addition, this position serves as the case management clerk for all children's and probate cases, opening new cases, scheduling hearings, processing pleadings and court orders, monitoring case files for accuracy and timeliness, and maintaining strict confidentiality.

A significant responsibility of this position is to

remotely assist the Utqiagvik court with all aspects of its daily operations while working from Anchorage.

This includes assisting remotely with case processing, scheduling, document preparation and processing, case management, judicial support, customer service, court-related questions, and other administrative and operational duties as needed. The incumbent serves as a remote resource for Utqiagvik court staff, providing guidance, answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and helping ensure work is completed accurately and timely. The incumbent may also assist with training law clerks on case management systems and motion tracking, provide remote technical and procedural support to judicial officers and court staff, and support the Clerk of Court as assigned.

This is a varied role that combines judicial support, comprehensive case management, and broad remote support of the Utqiagvik court from Anchorage. The position plays an important role in ensuring the Utqiagvik court has consistent administrative, case management, and operational support despite the geographic distance between the two locations.
