Job summary

YKHC in Bethel, Alaska seeks a Supervising Community Health Aide/Practitioner (CHA/P) to oversee CHA/Ps, assure quality patient care at village clinics, and guide on-site instruction and performance improvement.

The role emphasizes rural, cross‑cultural leadership, coordinating with village councils and CHAP teams, implementing standing orders, and mentoring staff to strengthen preventive care across the Yukon-Kuskokwim region.

Qualifications

• Certified Community Health Aide, session III or higher.
• One year of experience providing health care.
• Must obtain Alaska CHP certification within 2 years of hire date.
• Current ETT.
• EMT I preferred.
• Current Alaska Driver’s License.
• Clear background check.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Email, RPMS and Telehealth.
• Good communication skills and basic computer knowledge.
• Management and/or supervisory experience in a rural, cross-cultural setting preferred.
• Bilingual Yup’ik/English, Athabascan/English or Cupik/English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise CHA/Ps in job performance and quality health care.
• Coordinate village health care team with village council.
• Provide instruction in clinic management and patient care.
• Develop and evaluate trip objectives; submit reports.
• Lead Quality Improvement and QA activities.
• Communicate with CHA/P, CHAP, village bodies and health systems.
• Maintain policies, safety standards and standing orders.
• Represent CHAP at state level on CHA/P committees.
